15 WAYS TO FOCUS ON SELF-HEALING

1.     NUTRITION

Stick to a plant based diet. Eat organic/non-gmo food whenever possible. Get plenty of protein. Stock your kitchen with health supportive foods. Choose whole foods over processed. Replace sugar with natural sweetener. Swap iodized salt for Himalayan salt. Limit your alcohol consumption. And focus on alkalizing your body.

2.     CLEAN UP YOUR THOUGHTS

You can eat all the kale in the world, but if your thoughts are toxic, your body will be too. Your thoughts have a profound effect on the way you feel & heal. When negative or dark thoughts come up, except them & move on. Choose thoughts that feel light & expansive and serve your highest good.

3.     SLEEP

We all feel our best with a full nights sleep. Create a ritual around bedtime to prepare you for deep, restful and restorative sleep. Start to wind down from your day by turning off all screens an hour before bed. Take a bath. Make chamomile tea. Get cozy with a book or listen to a guided meditation. If you are still having trouble dozing off, reduce or eliminate caffeine for a few days, until you’re back on track. Try your best to get to bed before midnight. that way, your body will go through a full REM sleep cycle and you will wake feeling rested and renewed!

4.     EXERCISE

Move your body everyday! Don’t get hung up on a specific routine. Run, walk, hike, bike, do yoga, swim, try pilates, dance, and visit the gym. Make moving your body a priority, even if you can only squeeze in a short walk. Exercise staves off weight gain, increases energy and lowers depression. It also helps to reduce anxiety. Exercising increases blood flow and provides the body and blood with more oxygen leaving you feeling happy and looking vibrant. 

5.     HYDRATE

Chances are you’re dehydrated! Drink half your body weight in ounces everyday to keep your body systems regulated. For instance, if you weigh 130 pounds, drink 65 ounces of water daily. This will keep cravings at bay, support digestion, and give you glowing skin and more energy. 

6.     REST & RELAX

Take a detoxifying Epsom salt bath with 10 drops of pure lavender essential oil to relax the body, relieve muscle tension and reduce stress. Lavender oil triggers brain reactions that promote relaxation. Give yourself time to rest whenever possible. Take naps and sleep in after a late night out. Not sleeping enough can lower immunity and cause weight gain. When we don’t get enough sleep, the body starts overproducing a hormone called Ghrelin, “the hunger hormone.” This sends signals to the body that you’re still hungry & you will find yourself noshing all day long. Prevent cravings by drinking plenty of water and herbal tea. Make time for meditation whenever possible.

Get outside whenever possible. Connecting to nature eases stress and tension in the mind & body. Walking on the beach or hiking in the mountains soothes our primal need to feel connected to our environment. Earthing is also incredibly grounding and remineralizes the body.

8.     PLAY/PAMPER/GIVE BACK

Set yourself free! Try something new. Pamper yourself with a day at the spa or spend an afternoon doing service work in your community. All of these things will help you feel more connected to yourself and your community.

9.     SOCIAL CONNETION

Reach out to friends and loved ones and schedule time together. Create routines and rituals with your friends. Take a cooking class, join a group or start exercising with your peers. We are social beings and connection is a part crucial of our health and well-being.

10. CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Find a way to express the innate creativity inside you. Decorate your house, create a bouquet, throw a themed dinner party, paint, write, start a blog, take pictures, try a new recipe. Do something everyday that fuels your soul.

11. EXPRESS SEXUALITY

Make love, touch yourself, and offer a massage to your love. It’s important to release our sexual energy and nurture our primal urges.

12. CONNECT WITH YOUR EMOTIONS

It’s often difficult to connect to deep emotions because sometimes, they don’t feel so good. Let yourself feel into all of your emotions and give yourself space to get in touch with your true self.

13.  SEEK HELP & SUPPORT

It’s ok to ask for help. Talk to your close friends, your partner or your family when you feel like you need support. You can also seek advise from health practioners or therapists. It’s important to feel like someone is holding space for you.  

14. EDUCATE YOURSELF

Read health blogs, listen to podcasts, try healthy cookbooks, and pick up a few self-help books. All of these things will support you on your journey to health and wellness.  

15. REDUCE YOUR TOXIC LOAD

Eat organic, ditch toxic cleaners, limit the amount of toxic cosmetics you use, use plant based/organic supplements and create a healthy home environment.
